The Bhimashankar Temple, situated in the Sahyadri range of Maharashtra, India, is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas dedicated to Lord Shiva. One of Maharashtra’s three Jyotirlingas. The Temple is located in Bhorgiri Village 50 km Northwest of Khed Taluka and 120 Km Near Pune City. Recently Bhimashankar was declared a wildlife sanctuary.

Bhimashankar Temple History:

पौराणिक कथानुसार, मंदिर का असली निर्माण प्राचीन समय में हुआ था जब एक राक्षस नामक भीम ने क्षेत्र में हाहाकार मचाया। भगवान शिव ने हस्तक्षेप किया, जिससे उनके बीच एक भयंकर युद्ध हुआ। युद्ध के दौरान, भगवान शिव ने भीमाशंकर ज्योतिर्लिंग के रूप में प्रकट हुए और राक्षस को परास्त किया, जिससे क्षेत्र में शांति लाई गई।
