In the past, Chotila was known as Chotgadh. It was formerly a Sodha Parmar property, but the Khachar Kathis took it from Jagsio Parmar and turned it into one of their main seats. The Chotila home is where the majority of Khachar Kathis can trace their ancestry. The Kathis took control of Chotila in 1566 AD.
