2 . Elephant Falls, Meghalaya

Elephant Falls was originally known as Ka Kshaid Lai Patent Khohsiew, which translates to “Three Step Waterfall.” When the British discovered a massive boulder that resembled an elephant next to the fall, they gave it the name Elephant Falls. 3. Dawki, Meghalaya

Prior to coming under British control in the 19th century, the tribes of the Jaintia Hills had their own kingdom. The Jaintia Hills were split into 12 regions, known as “Elaka,” each of which was governed by its own Dolois. The largest and most powerful province in Nartiang, known as UKongsan, was Doloi of Nartiang. These provinces came together to form the Jaintia Syiem ship, which was controlled by a monarch selected with the consent of all the Dolois.

6. Double Decker Living Root Bridge, Meghalaya

Day 1: Arrival in Guwahati and Transfer to Shillong

  • Arrive at Guwahati Airport and take a pre-booked taxi to Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya (approx. 3-hour drive).
  • Check into your hotel in Shillong and spend the evening exploring the local markets and trying out local cuisine.

Day 2: Shillong Sightseeing

  • After breakfast, visit the Ward’s Lake, a picturesque man-made lake in the heart of Shillong.
